One Saturday morning, I found myself sprinting through the house, coffee in hand, searching for a lost range finder while also gluing rhinestones back onto a dance costume. That’s when it hit me: this is not a normal weekend. But for me? It’s just another round in the life of a teen golf and dance mom.
Hi, I’m Saluna, and welcome to FORE the Love of Dance — a blog dedicated to the wild, wonderful, and sometimes wacky world of raising a competitive dancer and a competitive golfer. Yes, both and Yes, at the same time.
Let me set the scene. One week we are packing up the duffle full of costumes and makeup, stretching in the hallway, and packing hairpins like we are going into battle. The next we are checking yardages, marking golf balls, and practicing putts in the living room. Our family calendar looks like a logistics plan for a small military operation.
So why start a blog?
Because this is a life I never saw coming, and I know I’m not alone. Whether you’re a fellow “studio mom,” “tee box taxi,” or just someone trying to keep it all together while cheering from the sidelines, I wanted a space to share this beautifully chaotic journey. The good, the stressful, the expensive (let’s be real), and the unforgettable.
Here’s what you’ll find on this blog:
- Behind-the-scenes stories from competitions and tournaments
- Packing tips (yes, I’ve learned the hard way!)
- Product reviews
- Honest thoughts on parenting high-pressure kids
- Laugh-out-loud moments, because if we don’t laugh… we cry, right?
This is a space for moms like me—and like you—who are doing their best to support big dreams from the passenger seat of a SUV (or the fairway or dressing room hallway).
So, grab your coffee (or your third cup reheated) and follow along as I try to survive and celebrate this season of my life — one swing and leap at a time.
Are you a dance or golf parent? Or maybe both? I’d love to hear the wildest thing you've packed, forgotten, or survived during a competition weekend. Drop it in the comments!
With love, bobby pins and golf tees,
Saluna
